Sacred Canopy

This collection of works represents the beginning of my exploration of the body as 'sacred canopy'. Borrowing the phrase from sociologist Peter L. Berger who used it to describe the sheltering nature of social institutions like the Christian church, and translating Gothic Revival architectural patterns to ordinary materials, I investigate the potential of the maternal body to accommodate others and, in doing so, constitute sacred space.
