Plane + Horizon (2017)

 

In these mixed media works, I imagine maternal and vegetal bodies as territories of love and lament, and as map-like portals and sacred icons. Plane and Horizon respond to the thinking of philosopher Luce Irigaray and her proposal of a new and ethical 'cultural horizon' that respects difference, remembers the mother and the vegetal world, and can emerge only through 'loving thought'.
